Are racist tirades just hatred or sheer stupidity?

The two racist rants by a white woman in Torrance, California, have recently gone viral. He faces a young Asian American who is exercising in a public park. For no logical reason, the woman starts a racist spiel and tells the woman to go back to whatever Asian country she is from (using some expletives intertwined throughout her rant).

The young woman had been videotaping her training session, so the racist woman was caught on camera making her hateful spiel. However, he yells at the young woman to put it on Facebook as he continues his tirade. She tells the young woman that her family will haunt her. The woman is called “older” in the reports. Actually, he is apparently 56 years old. That’s not that old, and it has been discovered that he has a Hispanic-sounding last name.

The racist woman who rants must have some serious prejudice and hatred towards people of Asian origin, as others came forward recounting their experiences with the same woman. A man had videotaped an encounter he and his 11-year-old son had with her that same day. That video has gone viral just like the first one. There are likely many more occasions when this woman has delivered her racist tirades without being filmed.

Is it simply hatred of people who are different that caused this woman to do her racist spiel or is it sheer stupidity? The question is whether he is racist against any minority or has something against those of Asian origin. It is strange that in the second video of the racist woman, she gets into her Japanese-made car to drive away. That sounds stupid. She has become famous or infamous.

With almost everyone these days with a camera cell phone, the general public can easily take videos. There are hundreds of videos on YouTube of people launching racist tirades against people who look different from them. Yes, racism is alive and well in the United States.

There is too much hatred in this world and racism is probably impossible to eradicate because of people like the woman in the video. Although there are many more white people who are currently protesting and speaking out against racism, there can always be these kinds of ignorant, bigoted, hateful, and arrogant people (even for no reason) in this world.

Blacks, Latinos, Native Americans, Asian Americans, Muslims, and LGBTQ people are too often subjected to racist attacks and tirades from hateful people. Blacks have it worse, as everyone would agree, but people of other ethnicities and anyone who is perceived as different can be a target of racism. The racism exhibited in the recent past against black men has intensified. Many victims have received media and public attention, including the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.

Although no one condones rioting, looting, destruction of property and harm to others, peaceful protests to draw attention to racial inequalities in this country must be heeded by those in power to make change. There should be fairness and justice in this world without people having to put up with racism.
