DoTERRA Review: How Kosher Is This Company?

Let’s start with a little background about the company. The company name ‘doTERRA’ is a word derived from Latin meaning “Gift of the Earth”. It was founded in April 2008 by a group of six executives. DoTERRA Executives no have an exit strategy. The company has had a positive cash flow since July 2008.

doTERRA makes a bold claim to be the only company in the world that has produced CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) essential oils. Unlike other competing companies that sell essential oils, doTERRA guarantees theirs as pure, insurance, powerful, and tried.

What exactly are CPTG essential oils?

In essence, they are the highest possible grade of essential oils available on the market today. First of all, they are PURE, which means they are 100% natural, with no artificial ingredients, fragrances, or fillers. Second, they are SAFE, which means they are certified free of pesticides and other chemical residues. Third, they are POWERFUL, which means that they have been produced with standardized active compounds. Fourth and last, they are TESTED by independent laboratories, and not by internal personnel or suppliers.

What makes this network marketing company special?

I have personally been involved in the network marketing industry for the last 7 years and have never seen a company with a retention rate as high as doTERRA. About 65-70% of all new independent product consultants (independent product consultants) stay with the company. This statistic is three times higher than the national average for network marketing companies.

Now the reason I would say they have such a high retention rate is 3 times the following:

  • The cost of membership is very low and there are no ongoing fees.
  • The company has a loyalty rewards program where having a certain number of purchases per month will result in increased cash back over time. In other words, if a new CPI is already getting around 30% off retail prices, many months later they will get an additional 30% off their purchases. That’s 60% off retail prices just for staying with the company and buying the used products.
  • DoTERRA runs a promotion almost every month. In fact, they just introduced a specialty product club where loyal customers get a free “product of the month” in addition to their monthly order.

Is doTERRA a kosher company?

There are three things to keep in mind when identifying a legitimate opportunity for an illegal one. First, doTERRA is operating as a legal network marketing company. There is no debate here because network marketing itself is a legal industry tested by the US federal government in 1979. The next two paragraphs will determine the ethics behind doTERRA.

The second reason that doTERRA is a kosher business is that the initial money spent to become an IPC It is not go to the immediate upline. The company is paid as a kind of administrative fee that also gives it access to its own replicated website that people can shop from. This is an important point because there are many network marketing companies with too much emphasis on enrolling new distributors for the immediate benefit of the upline. In general, this would be an unethical practice that would spoil the reputation of the company. However, doTERRA is a firm company with a solid foundation. It was built and is run daily with honesty and integrity.

Third, we find that doTERRA has a modern compensation plan. There is no emphasis on “recruit, recruit, recruit” new consultants. In fact, I have never encountered a network marketing business as ethical as this one until now. The reason is that the products really work, and they work fast! There are regular training webinars. There is no one yelling and yelling at you to go out and find new distributors.

Last words …

doTERRA has one of the best compensation plans in the industry that rewards your productivity thoroughly. So if you do nothing, you get nothing. If you do a little, you get a little. If you do a lot, you get a lot, and so on.

The problem with doTERRA and 97% of kosher network marketing companies is not their products, but how they teach you to find new distributors to build your business. They generally teach the “old school” paradigm of essentially harassing friends and family on one’s “warm list.”

The question is, why target people who were never interested in the first place? Why waste time? There has to be a better way and I’m glad you asked because there is. Is called attraction marketing which means we want pre-qualified leads to come to us first of all instead of us going out like headless chickens looking for them.

So when you are ready to learn the “new school” methods, you will need an experienced leader like myself to show you the process. Then, and only then, will your doTERRA business really take off when prospects start coming to you.
