Nets are No. 6 seed: Warriors make playoffs while Bulls drop to No. 5 seed

The Golden State Warriors clinched their first playoff berth since 1994 when they beat the Portland Trail Blazers 120-98. With this victory, the Warriors beat the Clippers to take the No. 8 seed.

Guard Jason Richardson said he was happy the fight for the playoff spot was finally over.

However, the Warriors can’t rest just yet as they have to open the playoffs against the best team in the league, the Dallas Mavericks, which looks like a duel between coach Don Nelson and his former team.

In another game, the New Jersey Nets beat the Chicago Bulls 106-97, to take the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference and this win also ensured the Bulls didn’t finish second.

The Nets will face the Toronto Raptors in Toronto in the first game of the postseason. The Raptors are the champions of the Atlantic Division. Vince Carter will be the subject of many boos every time he touches the ball. Carter played for the Raptors for over 6 years before being traded to the Nets in December 2004.

The Raptors are itching to take on Carter and the Nets. Toronto’s Chris Bosh, Carter’s former teammate, said he was looking forward to the matchup and was sure Carter wanted to play in Toronto. The Raptors couldn’t ask for anything better than facing a player who helped build the team.

Had Chicago won against the New Jersey Nets, there would have been a rematch between the two teams in the first round. Now the Bulls have dropped to the No. 5 seed and will face the defending champion Miami Heat in the first round.
